MOESIA INFERIOR. Marcianopolis. Gordian III (AD 238-244). Æ pentassarion (28mm). Tullius Menophilus, consular legate, AD 239-240. Confronted busts of Gordian III right, laureate, draped, cuirassed, and Serapis left, draped and wearing modius / Nike standing left, holding wreath and palm frond. Varbanov -; AMNG I/1, 1141. Apparently a rare seen variety, one specimen cited by Pick (in Munich) but missing from the more recent publications. Green patina. NGC XF.
